What is the Boonana Trojan Horse?

By

The Boonana Trojan Horse affects both Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. The Boonana Trojan Horse was released by potential attackers in late 2010, and has been known to affect thousands of computers. The Boonana Trojan Horse is closely interacted with social media websites like Facebook. On Facebook for example, the Boonana Trojan Horse would disguise itself as a video link. The link would ask you if you are in the video, but by the time you click on it, it would have installed itself on your computer. Once the Trojan horse is installed, it will begin tracking and sending information from your computer.

How does the Boonana Trojan Horse spread?

The Boonana Trojan Horse spreads through social media websites and it pretends to be a link to a video. The Trojan also travels with video attachments on social media sites. When you click on the link, the Trojan horse gets activated and a Java powered pop-up will appear. The Trojan would then begin to download the additional files from the destination server. Within a few seconds, hundreds of infected files would be downloaded and stored on your system. If you have a password for your computer, it would be removed for access for the attacker. Someone who is tracking the Boonana Trojan Horse would now be able to access your files and folders.

The Boonana Trojan Horse is very advanced in the sense that it can connect to secondary servers if the main one is down or not connected. Your internet browsing history along with your personal information would be sent over the internet to the attacker.

How to Remove the Boonana Trojan horse

You can remove the Boonana Trojan Horse virus by running an antivirus. For Mac OS X systems, you can download a free antivirus program and run the scanner. All the major antivirus programs have been known to kill off the Boonana Trojan Horse. Alternatively, you can download the Boonana Trojan Horse removal tool and run it. The removal tool for Boonana Trojan Horse has been created by Secure Mac. If you disable Java on your internet browser, the Boonana Trojan Horse would not be able to start. At the same time, other Java enabled programs will not be able start.
